Each week on Wedding Wednesday, we plan to feature brides as they plan one of the most exciting days of their life. To kick off this series, I'd like to share my journey to the altar—as I'm not just a wedding consultant, I ordered my own custom wedding invitations from PlasticPrinters.

I am so excited to start this blog series about my Wedding Experience, but before I can even dig into how the planning went for myself, I have to explain how it all started.

This first blog post will be all about how he proposed! It truly is a day you can relive by telling it over and over again. And a day you will never forget.

How It Happened

It was a normal Friday after work arriving home to my boyfriend, Derick and our dog, Brooke. We had already planned a date night, so I knew I had to start getting ready right away. As I curled my hair and made final touches on my make-up, Derick mentioned he would be playing fetch with Brooke and to come outside when I was ready.

A few minutes later, I opened the door to our backyard to see red roses scaling every single inch of our deck. I was baffled on what was going on and neither my boyfriend or dog was in sight from the entrance of the patio door.

As I walked closer to the stairs on the deck, I saw Derick standing in the middle of our yard with our dog. Written across our yard was “Will you Marry Me, Ashley?”

The Wedding Proposal | A Post By Wedding Invitation Consultant Ashley

I was in shock. I met Derick at the bottom of the stairs and he got down on one knee and proposed to me. I was absolutely speechless.

To this day,  Derick says I did not say "yes" fast enough because I literally could not get a word out. But of course, I said YESSS!

Little did I know… there was more to this already amazing surprise!!!! Derick asked me to call my mom to let her know about the proposal since my parents live in South Dakota and he would call his mom as well. As I was letting her know the awesome news, Derick pushed me to hang up so we could head to our dinner reservations.

We walk outside through our garage and in our driveway was a big black limo! Again speechless. The driver opens the doors and a ton of balloons burst out. Behind the balloons were… MY parents and his parents!!!! I could not believe. This is where the tears really began.

Shortly after, we were driven like royalty to a nice dinner. Returning home later that evening, I was still in complete shock that my boyfriend was able to plan this all. Looking back on it, I still cannot believe he did it all. But I'm thrilled he did!
